BRAT is a Michelin Star restaurant in the heart of East London, offering Basque Country style cooking, which means, cooking over fire is the focal point, in every way. BRAT is owned and run by head chef Tomos Parry, originally from Anglesey in North Wales.

Tomos and the BRAT team approached Jolly Good People to create a branded honest documentary style film to showcase the history and heritage of Tomos’s style of cooking.

The film's ultimate objective was to authentically capture the profound bond between Wales and the Basque Country that Tomos embodies, his deep passion for cooking over fire, and the emphasis on showcasing the strong relationships he forges with his suppliers.

The film is shot entirely on 16mm analog film, this was an early creative decision we advised and it helped create and honest raw feeling, we embraced the imperfections, light leaks, flares and heavy grain. Finished with a rich colour grade that helps compliment the mood of the film.

I’ve always believed that the food we serve at the restaurant is a continuation of the work they do on the land and out at sea. I’m just here to facilitate what they have done.
— Tomos Parry, Owner of BRAT

From the very beginning, it was evident that Brat's relationship with their suppliers was truly unique and deeply cherished, mirroring how these suppliers connect with their landscapes. Capturing these meaningful connections became a priority for us, ensuring that they were beautifully portrayed in the film.
